Spain has more than 8 million YouTube channels. Only 500 of them have more than 2.65 million subscribers — and among those 500, exactly one is a podcast.
That fact tells you two things. First, that podcasting in Spain still punches below its weight in raw platform terms. Second — and more importantly — that anyone ranking "the biggest podcasts in Spain" by a single metric is measuring the wrong thing. The country's biggest shows live on different platforms, monetize in different ways, and are invisible to each other's charts. 2025 was the year that split became official: according to the V Estado del Audio y la Voz en España, YouTube overtook Spotify as the country's most-used podcast platform for the first time — 54.3% vs. 49.6%.
So we built a ranking that measures what actually matters: how many people each show reaches. We took 55 of Spain's most-followed podcasts and combined the two audience signals that mirror how the country consumes — Spotify followers and median YouTube views per episode — plus YouTube subscribers as a minor signal. No download claims, no self-reported reach. Every number is publicly verifiable, and the result at the top is a photo finish.

1. The Wild Project. Jordi Wild's three-hour conversations are the biggest podcast operation in Spain by nearly every raw measure: 1.18M median views per episode, 7.3M subscribers, 1.4M Spotify followers — and the only podcast among the country's 500 largest YouTube channels. The #1 spot, by 0.2 points, in the closest finish in this ranking.
2. El Podcast de Marian Rojas Estapé. The psychiatrist and best-selling author of Cómo hacer que te pasen cosas buenas commands Spain's largest audio following — 3.4M Spotify followers — plus 561K median YouTube views. The biggest audio-first franchise in the country, two tenths of a point from the crown.
3. Roca Project. Carlos Roca's interview show has become Spain's fastest-rising self-improvement franchise: 1.66M subscribers, 274K median views, and strong numbers on every signal — the youngest show in the top 3.
4. Nadie Sabe Nada. Buenafuente and Romero's improvised institution proves the radio-to-podcast pipeline still produces top-tier audiences: 794K Spotify followers and 223K median YouTube views — the rare legacy show that's genuinely big on both sides of the divide.
5. BBVA Aprendemos Juntos. The bank-backed talks platform is the category anomaly: 5.2M subscribers and six-figure median views for masterclass-format conversations — a case study in brand-owned media outgrowing the brands that merely sponsor podcasts.
6. Tengo un Plan. Juan Domínguez and Sergio Beguería's business-and-ambition interviews, 2.34M subscribers strong, remain the reference point for Spain's entrepreneurship wave.
7. Black Mango Podcast. The trio posts 505K median views — second-highest in the entire index — with a fraction of the name recognition of the shows around it. Pound for pound, the most underrated audience in Spain.
8. Dr. Mario Alonso Puig. The surgeon-turned-speaker pairs 552K Spotify followers with the top 10's highest engagement rate (5.2%) — the most devoted large audience in the ranking.
9. Worldcast. Pedro Buerbaum's long-form conversations run from business to extreme experiences, with 1.9M subscribers and one of the most consistent view floors in the pool.
10. La Ruina. Fuentes and Taltavull's live-audience worst-anecdote contest converts theatrical comedy into 142K median views and 404K Spotify followers — the biggest of Spain's live-format shows.
0.2 points separate #1 from #2 — and the two shows could not be more different. The Wild Project is video-native: its audience watches, on YouTube, for hours. Marian Rojas Estapé is audio-first: her 3.4M Spotify followers are the largest audio base in the country. That the reach crown comes down to a rounding error between a YouTube giant and a Spotify giant isn't a quirk of our math — it's a portrait of the Spanish market in 2026, the year YouTube (54.3%) overtook Spotify (49.6%) as the country's most-used podcast platform. The two ecosystems have produced two champions of almost exactly equal size.

Plot every show on two axes — Spotify followers against YouTube views — and the market splits in front of you. In one corner: audio-native giants like Entiende Tu Mente (2.5M Spotify followers, 4K YouTube views). In the other: video-native shows like El Sentido de la Birra (17K Spotify followers, 60K YouTube views per episode, 443K subscribers — partly an artifact of its Podimo exclusivity window). These shows are enormous — in different countries of the internet. A brand buying "podcast advertising" in Spain is buying one of these ecosystems, usually without knowing it.

Spain's 500 largest YouTube channels — a list that bottoms out at ~2.65M subscribers — contain exactly one podcast: The Wild Project, at #108 with 7.3M. Tengo un Plan (2.34M) misses the cutoff. Worldcast (1.92M) misses it. Nadie Sabe Nada, with decades of radio reach, has 263K. Podcasting commands a growing share of Spanish watch time, but its subscriber footprint still looks nothing like gaming's or kids' content's. For advertisers, that gap is the opportunity: podcast audiences are large, loyal and dramatically under-priced relative to channels of equivalent cultural weight. (Source: Social Blade, August 2026.)
We display engagement rate — (likes + comments) ÷ views — for every show but deliberately don't weight it, because it measures devotion, not headcount. And it inverts the leaderboard: the pool's engagement champions are Como si nadie escuchara (7.2%), El Orden Mundial (6.7%) and Ático Primera (6.1%) — intimate, mid-sized shows — while The Wild Project sits at 2.6%, near the bottom third. That's not weakness; it's arithmetic. A million casual viewers will always out-number their commenters; three hundred devotees won't. For advertisers, the reach table says where the people are; the engagement column says who's actually listening closely. The smartest buys triangulate both.
Nadie Sabe Nada aside, the SER-origin and audio-native tier holds six-figure Spotify followings while posting three- or four-figure YouTube views. Las Noticias de la SER: 78K Spotify followers, 381K YouTube subscribers — and 37 median views per upload. Curiosidades de la Historia National Geographic: 482K followers, 414 views. That's not failure; it's a deliberate audio-first strategy colliding with a video-first discovery era. Whether these franchises convert to video before the next generation of listeners arrives is the biggest open question in Spanish audio.
Two significant shows have no YouTube episode presence at all and can't be scored on a multi-platform index. They compete in a different arena, so we list them separately rather than pretending the comparison works:
| Podcast | Host | Spotify Followers |
|---|---|---|
| Criminopatia ‡ | Clara Tiscar | 338,000 |
| Esta no te la sabes ‡ | Guillermo Reset | 231,000 |
‡ Estimates. Spotify displays follower counts publicly only for some shows, depending on the hosting platform — for these two, the figures shown are our estimates from available signals.
Both would rank comfortably in the top 20 by Spotify following alone — a reminder that "audio-only" and "small" are very different things.
The pool. 55 shows: the union of Spotify Spain's top podcast charts, Apple Podcasts Spain, iVoox rankings, and YouTube Spain's podcast charts, filtered by three eligibility rules — episodic format (daily live morning shows excluded), an episode published within 90 days of collection, and production based in Spain for Spanish audiences.
What we measure: reach. This ranking answers one question — how many people does each show reach? — so its weights mirror how Spain actually consumes podcasts. Per the V Estado del Audio y la Voz en España 2025 (Prodigioso Volcán), YouTube (54.3%) has overtaken Spotify (49.6%) as the country's most-used podcast platform — a near-even split we translate into near-even platform weights:
| Signal | Weight | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Spotify followers | 45% | The audio side's audience base; accumulates slowly and organically — the hardest public number to inflate |
| YouTube median views/episode | 45% | Actual people watching; median of the last 10 full episodes so one viral guest can't distort it |
| YouTube subscribers | 10% | Channel size — real but weakest, includes dormant accounts |
| YouTube engagement rate | 0% (displayed) | Measures devotion, not headcount — shown in the table for context, never weighted |

Each signal converts to a percentile rank within the pool, then combines by weight. "Full episodes" means videos over a per-show duration threshold (minimum 15 minutes, higher for shows that also post long segments), published at least 7 days before collection, from each show's main episodes channel only — clips channels excluded. All data collected in a single window in August 2026. YouTube like counts are used as publicly displayed (rounded); all other figures are exact.
A note on Spotify follower counts: Spotify only displays follower counts publicly for some shows; whether the number is visible depends on the show's hosting platform. Shows where no public count exists are marked * in the table and scored on the YouTube signals with weights renormalized. Where a follower figure is shown for a show without a public count (marked ‡), it is our estimate based on available signals, and identified as such.
What we deliberately left out: download numbers and ad-impression figures. Our own investigative work on podcast ad fraud has shown how unreliable self-reported inventory can be — so this index uses only signals any reader can verify in five minutes with a browser.
